Customs Duties

Using our expertise  we have helped over 900 people get their car into South Africa duty free.

If you have owned your car for 12 months in the UK and you have duel citizenship / indefinite leave to remain, you can apply for the duty free on your car saving you thousands of rands.

Once you have paid your deposit and have booked in with us will we help you through this procedure and give you all the information you require to get your car through duty free. We recommend all our clients to apply for their duty free in Johannesburg regardless of which port your car is arriving at. You will need to show proof that you are returning to S.A. permanently in order to qualify for the duty free.

You need to apply for the duty free in person at a customs office with all the permits and documents at least 7/10 days before your car arrives in South Africa, however we will make sure you have everything with you when you apply so that you will not have to waste time.

If you only have a South African passport you will not qualify for duty free importation to South Africa.

Regardless of your circumstances you need to have owned the car for a minimum of 6 months to obtain an import permit if you are a South African citizen. It will take between 10 – 20 working days for us to obtain the permits for your car.

For British citizens moving to South Africa, you can only ship your car permanently if you have a permanent residency stamp in your passport.
